City Tours

Quetzaltenango has a lot to offer. The city was originally named Xelajú meaning Under Ten Mountains. It was part of the Mayan empire during Pre-Columbian times. With the coming of the Spanish, the named changed to Quetzaltenango which means Place of the Quetzal. This combination of nature and city is still visible in the city today.
